Risk and Safety Management

The Risk and Safety Management area focuses on identifying and managing risk and safety problems in the work environment and in major security-critical complex systems. The interaction between man, technology and organizations (MTO, Human Factors) is a key starting point, as is our research that explores ways to increase safety and sustainability.

The research is often multidisciplinary and is conducted in close collaboration with various industrial sectors, the healthcare sector and government authorities. Our research covers areas such as preventive work environment and safety management, the creation of safe work conditions and design of workplaces, but also touches on the areas of safety culture in organizations, human behavior, system approaches and learning for safety.

Research in focus

Research in focus in the area of Risk and Safety Management:

  • Safety culture and radiation safety
  • Work conditions at research facilities with radiation risks
  • Resource-enhanced supply of pharmaceuticals
  • Patient safety – safe administration of drugs
  • Prerequisites for effective crisis preparedness
  • Risk behavior on construction sites
  • Vibration exposure and preventive work environment measures
  • Fall accidents
  • Nanosafety

UN Global Goals

The research in Risk and Safety Management is linked to UN Global Goals, which are described on the Design Sciences website:

  • Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being
  • Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
