People at Work

Work is a big part of our lives. We believe that no one should have to suffer or become ill from his or her work. On the contrary, work should enrich our lives and promote good health.

No matter where our workplace is, the surrounding physical, social and organizational environments, as well as the technical systems that are involved will affect us.

Ergonomics and aerosol technology have a broad spectrum of different research areas that aim to understand and improve the work environment. Our research is extensive and is often carried out in a larger context – one that is multidisciplinary. We do this together with other experts such as epidemiologists, medical doctors, psychologists and social scientists. We make use of different methods and approaches including laboratory studies, observation studies, questionnaires and action research.

We study the challenges that Swedish trade and industry face, examples being new forms of employment, digitalization, climate change and new technology like LED lighting.

We have several laboratories in which we can carry out studies on lighting, thermal climate, usability and virtual reality. Explore our research laboratories on the Design Sciences website.
