Gudbjörg Erlingsdottir

I am Associate Professor in occupational technology at the Department of Design Sciences. I finished my PhD at the Department of Business Administration, Lund University, 1999 in organization theory with the thesis "Seductive ideas - quality assurance in health care." I work primarily as a researcher and coordinator / project manager in various research projects and I also coordinate the department’s overall research platform Health Design.

Empirically my research interests are mainly within healthcare. Some areas of interest are: eHealth services, who is driving the development of them and why, how are they designed and implemented and what effects do they have on healthcare professions and their working environment and for healthcare organizations; healthcare professions’ working environment and how it is affected by various factors; development and deployment of technical systems in health care; the organization of care and change processes.

Theoretical fields of interest are: Institutional theory, especially on change processes (Scandinavian School) and standardization of technology; Translation sociology; Theories on professions, particularly organizing, autonomy, various forms of control, safety, accountability and transparency; How technics and medical professions are inscribed by norms and the encounter between these different norms.

2015-2016 Pufendorf fellow and group leader of a crossdisciplinary research theme: “Ehealth; for better for worse, in sickness and in health" (incl. 35 senior researchers and PhD-students from five faculties), together with Helena Sandberg.
