People at work
Work is a big part of our lives, and no matter where our workplace is, we are affected by the surrounding physical, social and organisational environment. However, no one should be harmed or become ill from their work – on the contrary, it should enrich our lives and contribute to better health.
Our department has a wide range of different research areas that aim to understand and improve the work environment. These include, for example, new forms of employment in the workplace, digitalisation and the ongoing climate change. Our research is often part of a wider context – multidisciplinary and in collaboration with other experts such as epidemiologists, medical doctors, psychologists and social scientists.
We use a variety of methods and approaches in our research, such as observational studies, surveys and action research. Within the department, we also have laboratories for studies of, for example, lighting, thermal climate, usability and virtual reality.
We do research on:
- Healthy indoor environments
- Glare-free and flicker-free lighting
- Thermal climate indoors and in work environments
- Adaptations and measures against climate change
- Home-care and home nursing
- Teamwork
- Leadership and management
